Flat direction MSSM (A-term) Inflation

چکیده
The Minimal Supersymmetry Standard Model contains several hundreds of Dand Fflat directions that are lifted by soft susy breaking terms as well as non-renormalizable terms. In a recent paper we find that only two of these directions, LLe and udd can accommodate inflation. The model predicts more than 103 e-foldings with an inflationary scale of Hinf ∼ 1 GeV, provides a tilted spectrum compatible with WMAP3, and a negligible tensor perturbation. The reheating temperature could be as low as Trh ∼ 1 TeV. The model is stable under radiative as well as supergravity corrections, although a significant finetunning has to be imposed on the ratio of two parameters of the model. The RGE equations allow us to relate the model parameters with slepton and gaugino masses explorable in the LHC, while the neutralino in this model could well be within reach of present dark matter searches in the laboratory.

Generating curvature perturbations with or without MSSM flat directions
We consider instant preheating as the mechanism for generating the curvature perturbation at the end of chaotic inflation. Then we examine if inflation could be driven by a Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) flat direction or a sneutrino. Our simple mechanism relaxes some serious constraints that appeared in past studies, making inflation driven by a MSSM flat direction or a sneutrino...
متن کاملInhomogeneous reheating scenario with low scale inflation and/or MSSM flat directions
We discuss the constraints on the inhomogeneous reheating scenario. In particular, we discuss the prospects for low scale inflation with a Hubble constant of the order of the gravitino mass, and the possibility that an MSSM flat direction is responsible for the density fluctuations. Thermal effects are generically fatal for the scenario, and can only be avoided for small enough mass and couplin...
متن کاملGenerating curvature perturbations with MSSM flat directions
We consider the possibility that chaotic inflation is driven by a Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) flat direction or a sneutrino. The discrepancy between our present study and past studies is in the mechanism for generating the curvature perturbations. We consider curvature perturbations generated by instant preheating at the end of inflation, instead of a conventional curvature per...
متن کاملGraceful exit from a stringy landscape via MSSM inflation
The cosmological evolution of the string landscape is expected to consist of multiple stages of old inflation with large cosmological constant ending by tunneling. Old inflation has a well known graceful exit problem as the observable universe becomes empty, devoid of any entropy. Simultaneously, in the quest for reheating the right degrees of freedom, it is important that the final stage of in...
متن کاملDynamics of MSSM flat directions consisting of multiple scalar fields
Although often chosen because of simplicity, a single scalar field does not provide a general parametrization of an MSSM flat direction. We derive a formalism for a class of gauge invariant polynomials which result in a multifield description of the flat directions. In contrast to the single field case, the vanishing of the gauge currents yields an important dynamical constraint in the multifie...
متن کاملA-term inflation and the MSSM
The parameter space for A-term inflation is explored with W = λpφ p/pM P . With p = 6 and λp ∼ 1, the observed spectrum and spectral tilt can be obtained with soft mass of order 10 GeV but not with a much higher mass. The case p = 3 requires λp ∼ 10 to 10. The ratio m/A requires fine-tuning, which may be justified on environmental grounds. An extension of the MSSM to include non-renormalizable ...
